Welcome back to The Life of a Homemaker! I'm making some lasagna to feed about 30 people for our fellowship meal after church on Sunday. I'm preparing it on Saturday to put in the fridge and I'll bake it at church to eat afterwards. I also made some Italian herb bread and biscotti to take to our potluck as well.
This is the lasagna recipe that I loosely followed, but when you make it, make it like Ree does: tinyurl.com/2nuebsn5
My brother's biscotti recipe:
-1 Cup blanched whole almonds, toasted and chopped coarsely
-2/3 cup granulated sugar
-2 large eggs
-1 teaspoon almond extract
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-1/4 teaspoon salt
-1 /4 cups all-purpose flour
Preheat oven to 350F
Toast Almonds for 8-10 minutes or until golden. Let cool and then chop coarsely. Set aside.
Beat the sugar and eggs on high until thick (about 5 minutes). Beat in almond extract.
In a separate bowl, sift the flour, baking powder and salt. Add to the egg batter and mix until combined. Fold in the chopped almonds.
Form dough into a log about 12 inches long and 3 1/2 inches wide.
Bake for 25 minutes, or until the log is firm. Take out of the oven and let cool for about 10 minutes. Turn oven down to 325F.
Remove from the oven and transfer onto a cutting board. Cut into 3/4 inch thick slices and place the biscotti cut side down on the baking sheet. Bake an additional 10 minutes per side or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool. You can dip in melted chocolate or drizzle it over top. Or not. Store in an airtight container.
French Bread ingredients:
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons oil or butter
1 egg white (I throw in the whole egg, you can't stop me.)
1 teaspoon salt
3-4 cups of all purpose flour
Knead all ingredients together until a smooth dough forms (for about 10 minutes) then let rise until doubled, making sure to cover with a damp towel.
Flatten out, form into loaves, cover again and let rise another 30-45 minutes. Egg wash, herbs and salt toppings. Bake 350F on parchment lined sheet for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown.

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV
"Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lordrather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve." Colossians 3:23-24
My YouTube Channel is sharing how I strive towards the Proverbs 31 Woman. I am a simple woman who is purposing my life towards glorifying God in all that I do. This is my take on homemaking to the glory of God. I have been married for over 18 years and I have six young children. I will be sharing how I organize our home and life in general.
I am very passionate about eating healthy food and after discovering food allergies in our family, the majority of our food is cooked from scratch. I will be sharing how I meal plan, grocery shop, and cook.
Lastly, but most importantly: I am a child of God. I fall short constantly. I hope to use this channel to share the love of Christ. Although I know without doubt that my best attempt at living Godly is as filthy rags, the Bible tells us that sharing the Gospel never returns void! I want to use my YouTube channel to shine the light of Christ into the world and show that even doing the dishes can be done to the glory of God. I am inherently flawed and broken, but in Christ, I am made new. Sanctification is a lifelong process.
