Hello and welcome to Old Ways Gardening and Prepping.🍀 Would like to welcome you each in to our living room this beautiful evening. Wanted to get these delicious pickled jalapenos made up for Jr.
This is a old fashioned way to make pickled jalapenos that my Grandmother and father taught me a long time ago. Not everything has to be water bathed or pressure canned. As long as you follow the basic formula you can easily put away the summer's bounty for the cold winter months ahead. Have made many a jar of pickled peppers this way and absolutely love them.
Below is the basic recipe for the pickled jalapenos. There is not a lot of measuring but a few things have to be followed so it works for you.
My Homemade Pickled Jalapenos
Jalapenos or pepper of choice, sliced
Red onion or onion of choice, sliced thinly- optional
5% vinegar of choice (I mixed some organic apple cider vinegar with the mother and organic white wine vinegar) add no water to it at all
1 TBsp of minced dried garlic - optional
1 tsp of salt (no table salt or nothing that has iodine added)
Slice peppers of choice and onion if using. Put dried garlic and some onion in the bottom of the jar. Add jalapenos to the halfway point and add some more sliced onions then fill jar to a inch below the rim. Add vinegar debubble and finish filling jar with vinegar. Use one piece of food safe ziplock bag cut in to two pieces. One bag is plenty for two jars. Let sit for 6 weeks in your pantry and then enjoy.
Hope this video encourages you to also make your own homemade pickled peppers. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them in the comment section below I will answer them as soon as possible. Everyone take care and have a blessed day.❤️🍀🦉
Blessings,
Teresa 🦉
