Testing a home made tachometer (RPM counter) and balancing indicator for balancing rigs, trying to verify the detection of the angle of the rotating mass, how it works in practice, and making some experiments. This is the follow up of a previous video that shown the making of this instrument, the theory of operation and how the program works.
In short, this instrument uses a IR beam to read with contactless a rotating shaft, taking a reference point and comparing the vibrations generated by unbalances (if any) to try to locate the angle where the unbalanced mass is, and its magnitude.
In the meanwhile that I've made this video I also made improvements to the instrument and done more tests and experiments with interesting findings, among them, unlike what I have estimated in this video, the error angle 'e' seems to anticipate the actual location of the unbalanced mass.
The details will be shown in the next video, as this is an ongoing experience also for me as I am not an expert in the field of balancing rotating masses. Also every suggestion from experts or question is welcome, please leave your comments.
