I used a tin can to make an experiment to show how to exploit the capacitive effect and the Hook's law of springs to make a capacitive weighing sensor, making an electronic scale that is sensitive enough to gauge a 1g screw.
This is just a demonstration made for fun, an actual device would require much more work and the circuit extended with a display and a processor (i.e an Arduino or an NSC combo controller+display) to convert the output voltage into a meaningful information to display.
However for educational purposes on electronics and physics, and to understand capacitors and the elastic property of the materials, I think this is a nice experiment.
