In this video, I’ll show you how to turn a hollow globe Christmas ornament on the lathe. Hollow globe ornaments offer some challenges, but they’re incredibly satisfying to complete. If you have a bit of turning experience, you should be able to follow along as I demonstrate the process step-by-step, along with the tools and techniques I use.
This video focuses on the globe portion. In a separate Part 2 video I turn the decorative finial and cap to finish the ornament. Stick around to the end for a slideshow of different hollow globe ornaments I’ve made to inspire your own designs.
