How Dutch is Holland, Michigan today? I went beyond the tulips and tourist attractions to see whether Holland’s Dutch roots are still part of everyday life—or mostly something preserved for visitors.
From authentic Dutch food and traditional craftsmanship to a working windmill, historic neighborhoods, modern downtown Holland, and a few things I honestly didn’t expect, I put the city’s Dutch heritage to the test.
And somewhere between wooden shoes, Dutch pastries, an old cemetery, brewpubs, and Lake Michigan, the answer became a little more interesting than I expected.
