Our Perfect January 2024 Rainy Day Visit to the Hoh Rain Forest and Hike of the Hall of Mosses Trail. Driving on the road to the Hoh we encountered a large herd of elk near a cabin with a moss covered roof. Some elk were grazing in the meadow but most were laying down relaxed in the gentle rain. Arriving at the trailhead parking lot we were ecstatic there were no other cars. We had the entire forest to ourselves. My wife ad I donned our light rain jackets and waterproof cameras and headed across a wooden bridge that crossed a perfectly clear small stream then we continued on the Hall of Mosses trail. As we followed the trail in a gentle rain we felt a sense of peace from the forest and moss covered trees that this was the perfect weather for a rainforest. The trail ended at the mighty Hoh River then we returned to the car and headded to our warm cabin in Forks, Washington and enjoy a cozy fireplace.
