"When the title said '(Alpha), it really felt like it. So I'm going to treat it as such.
When I first played this map (as shown in the video), I thought the ability selection where locked out since the colored sprites led me to believe so.
I like the custom weapons, I would suggest adding in custom melee weapons. How about using the playable character's own fists?
Now I am going to address some issues that will hopefully be fixed in the future. Now do be aware, I am only one guy. Other people may have an easier time fighting Vortigaunts that zaps their lighting at people waaay to quickly. So if I have skill issues and this mod is meant to be hard then...I will try my best to hide my saltiness.
Here's an issue that I am fairly certain that has nothing to do with 'skill', unless the goal is to not kill everyone. Please for the love of whatever god you believe in, allow enemies to drop their weapons when they die. I had a frustrating time looking for ammo during the second level.
One more thing, why is the gravity gun at the other end of the weapon selection menu? I will admit, I am used to playing Half-Life mods that didn't touch the configuration of weapon selection so this kind of threw me of a little.
I'm sorry if the criticism sounded a bit harsh, let's talk about the things I liked.
I did like the concept of an energy field launching you to where you need to go, I would recommend adding in hints or subtle instructions to teach the player how it works. It took me way too long to figure it out. Again, I am one guy. High probability of skill issues.
I also liked the concept of shooting rollermines into pools of water. Perhaps have that come up a few more times in the next update? Have them fall into holes or buttons that will solve a puzzle. I like physics.
So yeah, those were my thoughts on the mod. It is a good start. I do recommend starting simple when making mods. And get more people to playtest! Great games go through lots of playtesting. Valve does it. So even if your game doesn't look good, it will be fun. Making a game fun is the main goal.
I see potential in this mod. I shall patiently wait for updates...Or until I remember this mod exists or someone leaves a comment telling me there's an update.
TLDR: ALPHA MOD FEELS LIKE AN ALPHA MOD! IT'S OK SO FAR!"
