In March 1945 The US army air forces was presented a plan to attack the eagle’s nest with a massive bombing strike. The 15th army air forces, flying out of Italy was to deploy 2,900 bombers and fighters in support of the mission. The mission would occur if the German leader was known to be in residence and weather conditions were favorable for a visual bombing attack. The video will review the declassified Operation Doldrums document plan, expected resources and why the plan was not undertaken.
