In March 1943 the IJN convoyed 8 merchant ships screened by 8 destroyers from Rabaul to the Port of lea on New Guinea. The convoy was attacked by both RAAF and Kenney’s 5th air force bombers. The bombers perfectly coordinated their low, medium and high altitude attacks. All 8 of the convoys cargo/Troop ships and 4 destroyers were sunk for the loss of 2 bombers and 3 fighters. The Battle of the Bismarck Sea was considered a spectacular success. The video will focus on why the lop sided battle was won by the allies and the B-25s contribution of the battle by looking at 2 detailed combat narrations.
