*Please note I made an error in this video, where I make a statement about Eurocentric recommendations in the same breath as Mesopotamia. Many of the recommendations I make here are more European than other locations and will be throughout the year, and I do not think Mesopotamia was in Europe.*

Let's read more history! Historathon 2023 (created by Vin @RevenantReads) is a year long reading event with the goal of encouraging people to read more history, particularly for those who don't read a lot of it. There are so many different time periods, events and strong personalities in the past to interest everyone - my cohosts and I will be doing many recommendation videos throughout the year if you're not sure where to start.

All you need to do to participate is read one history book per quarter detailed in the timeline below.

Prehistory to 500 AD - Jan to Mar
500 to 1500 - Apr to Jun
1500 to 1820 - Jul to Sep
1820 to Present - Oct to Dec

We will be using the hashtag #historathon2023

My fantastic cohosts are:

@revenantreads (creator of this event)
@NicholasOfAutrecourt
@TheHistoryShelf
@billruttenberg
@ReadbyFred
@marianamasbooks
@BookTimewithElvis
