At HiPEAC 2026 in Krakow, Poland, EE Times spoke to many startups incubated form academic research.

One of those companies is PolyMage Labs, incubated as a startup by the Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore, India. The company said it is building advanced automated compilers and code generators to enable AI programming frameworks and languages to effectively target and exploit high-performance AI hardware.

In this video interview, Uday Bondhugula, a professor of computer science at IISc in Bangalore and founder and CTO at Polymage Labs, tells EE Times how the company is addressing current industry challenges to enable automated just-in-time (JIT) compilation to support multiple AI frameworks.

He also talks about the partnership announced with Tenstorrent in early 2026, what it means for Tenstorrent and for PolyMage, and their future plans for scaling and growth.
