At the DAC 2026 - Chips To Systems Conference in Long Beach, Calfornia this week, EE Times caught up with EDA industry veteran Wally Rhines, CEO of Silvaco, to talk about his first year at the helm of Silvaco and how the company has pivoted since the acquisition of Mixel in 2025.

He talks to Nitin Dahad, executive editor of EE Times, about how the company's fortunes have been transformed with the addition of the Mixel portfolio, as well as how it's traditional business plays in the world of AI and agentic AI in EDA and system design.
