Keeper1st | Hilo March (1881) player piano arrangement @Keeper1st | Uploaded December 2016 | Updated October 2024, 4 days ago.
When playing some scanned piano roll MIDI files on my PianoDisc system, I came across this awesome arrangement of the Hilo March, composed in 1881 by Joseph Kapaeau Aeʻa. According to the name of the file, this was a roll from the US Music Roll Company, catalog number 41512.
Perhaps someone can help with the issue date of the roll. I know that US Music Rolls was acquired by QRS in 1926, so this roll definitely is from earlier than that.
The MIDI file did not have any indication as to who had scanned the roll. I have all the roll scans that I downloaded from various sources years ago in the same folder, so if there's no name in the file (like what Terry Smythe does), I have no way of knowing who the scanner was.
