The next track in my Generative Ambient series!
As you might guess from the name "Hide and Sietch", this track was inspired by Frank Herbert's Dune, and I wanted to create an ambience that evoked being on Arrakis for me, without being too dark and menacing. I call it "desert ambient" music.
Process notes:
I made the track in Ableton Live, making heavy use of instruments from Output and Arturia.
The generative element started with a core note progression that passed through a couple of home made generative devices to drive several channels. I added in a Max4Live device to generate a Euclidean polymeter which then passed through a random gate on several channels to create periodic sounds.
I am pleased with the end result, and will be developing the generative template into more sophisticated ways - I already have some ideas for the next in the series!
I created the video entirely in DaVinci Resolve, and I am pretty pleased with the compositing I did with the moons. I wanted to add in some dust storms and wind as well but sadly, the particle system still eludes me!
Thanks to @spacewavecr for the inspiration!
Keywords:
Music for meditation, chillout, relaxation, unwinding, reading (especially the Dune series), sand, desert, wind, ethnic, soundscape, science fiction, sci-fi, rpg, background, mood, ambience, soundscape
