This is my first completed track with the Polyend Play groovebox/sequencer. The sampler is providing the beat, and the MIDI sequencer is driving a few instruments in Bitwig.
I played this in live, and did no other additions, edits, or processing. Most of the modulation was coming from the Play sequence.
The track's full name is Spielplatz auf dem Polyend (the playground on the Polyend), which seemed an apt name. The groovebox is certainly living up to its name and encouraging me to play!
Process Notes:
It is a new way of making music for me, using the Polyend Play groovebox. It took a while to figure out how to even connect it to my computer and sit down for some serious composition. The device's workflow helped me to get to new patterns and rhythms that I would not have experimented with just using Bitwig's interface.
To help with the Berlin School vibe I was going for, I piped most tracks generously into a send with Grainspace, set to a long granular reverb, and no reverb inserts.
And because there was no post-recording work, my mastering chain was lightweight to handle live performance: Gulfoss - Ozone Stabilizer - Compressor - Ozone Maximizer - Limiter.
