Briana Scurry (b. September 7, 1971) is an American retired soccer goalkeeper and current assistant coach of the Washington Spirit professional women’s soccer club in Washington, DC. Scurry was a founding member of the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA), which was the first women's soccer league in the United States where the players were paid as professionals. She was the starting goalkeeper for the United States women's national soccer team, winning two gold medals at her Olympic Games as well as winning the 1999 World Cup. Scurry is the first woman goalkeeper and first Black woman elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

Scurry was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She played goalie for the Anoka High School Tornadoes for four years and was instrumental in their Minnesota State Championship win in 1989. In high school, Scurry also ran track and played floor hockey, softball, and basketball; she was named Anoka High’s Athena Award winner as the school's top female athlete, and was also named High School All-American and Minnesota's top female athlete overall. She attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where, in her senior season, she ranked third best in the nation. Scurry was also named the National Goalkeeper of the Year in 1993 by the Missouri Athletic Club Sports Foundation and was a 1993 All-American athlete.

After college, Scurry was a goalkeeper for the United States women's national soccer team between 1994 and 2008, earning a record 173 caps for the United States. She is ranked in the top 50 of most-capped women’s players of all time. She was a member of the Gold Medal-winning US Women's National Team at the 1996 Olympic Games, where she started and played in every minute of the team's five matches. Scurry also played every minute of the 1999 Women's World Cup, which the United States won. The 1999 Women’s World Cup featured the largest attendance in U.S. soccer history.

In 2001, Scurry became a founding player for the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA). The league lasted three seasons, from 2001 to 2003, of which she played all three as starting goalkeeper for the Atlanta Beat women’s soccer team. She helped the Beat win two WUSA Championships, and was named WUSA Goalkeeper of the Year in 2003. After her last World Cup with the US National Women’s team in 2008, Scurry was named to the preseason roster of the Washington Freedom in the inaugural season of Women's Professional Soccer (WPS), a successor to the WUSA that’s now known as the National Women’s Soccer League. However, she suffered a season-ending injury early in the 2010 season, and announced her retirement later that year.

Scurry has served as a studio commentator for ESPN’s coverage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, was general manager of the Florida women’s soccer club ‘Magic Jack’ in the WPS 2011 season, and is the Assistant Coach of the Washington Spirit. In 2017, Scurry became the first woman goalkeeper and first Black woman elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame. In Dayton, Minnesota, there is a soccer park named in her honor.
