More and more people asked if I could upload some HEXEN music. I do love Hexen, much more than Heretic. Hexen is some great game to me since I tend more to the fantasy theme than sci-fi or horror. Unfortunately, you can barely find mods and stuff for that great game. The songs in this are sometimes pretty long and more ambient-like, it's hard to keep the attention of the listeners (or my own) without gameplay or something to look at. Unlike Doom which soundtrack is pretty much "stand-alone", you need some visuals.
I've added some comparison of Wavetable synthesizer and OPL2 sounds at the end of the video to show the differences of the instruments (or instruments not present in the OPL bank at all).

Real life is keeping me busy, but there is always time for data corruption and back-to-DOS crashes :-)
DooM 1.1 is massively bugged and has been patched in December of 1993 because of the massive data corruption, weird behaviour and even the ability to screw over the whole hard drive by damaging the FAT.
About the video: There is a little decoder error in VLC at 5:45 which plays just fine in Windows Media Player. Not sure if Youtube will struggle at that part too, but if so (little visual glitches like a bad digital TV signal - weird coloured blocks and a short sound clipper for 3 seconds) it is not your computer/decoder.
Also you might wonder why this is the 29th episode. It is simply the 29th entry in the playlist. I used one video twice and counted it differently, but now I take the actual number.")

My favourite. By far. This song is so calm, sad and becomes super-melancholic at 1:15.
Combined with the song, this map is thought-provoking. Who are we? We consider ourselves on top of the food chain. We have brought up great inventions and can store our entire life on a thumbnail-sized silicium plate. But is this real? Is there something or someone looking down to us as we look down to Ants, thinking about their insignificant lives? Are we just chess pieces on a chess board, naive about the surroundings of our chessboard? Who knows? There are things not explainable with rational arguments. Its our mind.")

After making fun of this game (Hey, rotating spoons as weapon and the player is a breakfast cereal. They wanted to be ridiculed!) I realized how much effort they put into this. The texture alignment sucks and some monsters are stuck in corners (as seen twice in this), but the music is OUTSTANDING.
What I like most its not the distinctive Robert Prince-sound. No, this could be from ANY DOS game. I hopefully can address some not-so big DooM fans to my channel. You might not like DooM, but you might like the sound of the YM3812 and its under license manufactured pendants.")
