Three Plano lifeguards were recently honored for their life-saving efforts after Carpenter Park Recreation Center patron experienced cardiac arrest.

On February 20, 2026, Zelong Dong collapsed while playing table tennis. Lifeguards Zane Arnold, Christopher Gardener and Brandon Lekas immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and used an automated external defibrillator (AED), delivering two shocks before Plano Fire-Rescue arrived.
