As part of his Mayor's Report during the December 2, 2025, regular meeting of the Lansing Village Board, Mayor Brian Hardy presented Civilian Service Awards to eight civilians "in recognition of extraordinary action and heroism following a recent vehicular accident." School District 158 Superintendent Nathan Schilling described the scene and noted the role that eight staff and person played. Applause and certificates were awarded to Laci Boshears, Crystal Briney, Angelique Carrillo, Jean Draves, Ashley Ellis, Chantal Romero, Diana Romero, and Kristen Russell.
