Hearing Shonda Rhimes say, “I don't think that pitching is a productive example of what you're like as a writer,” removed a lot of the pressure for pitching a screenplay.
This video shares a few pitching tips that I picked up from the Shonda Rhimes MasterClass.
In my full video, I talk about how Shonda shares how terrible her pitch for Greys went. However, the content of her pitch was great. She mentioned that she didn't ace her delivery.
She said she was sweating and was monotone and it gave me so much hope because I may come across confident here but I once did a pitch and even though I practiced so hard, I could not help the stutter that I developed and the ridiculous amount of sweat that appeared, also the shakes. I felt like popcorn was being made inside of me. Hearing her story gave me hope and I’ve planned a few pitches this year so we’ll see how that goes.
