Hercules "The Action Game" is based on the Disney movie "Hercules", just as the movie is based on the legend...sounds like a recipe for disaster, but to be fair this is a good game - damn good ! It seems Virgin Entertainment managed to make some good Disney games, as they were also behind The Jungle Book and The Lion King, so this one turned out just as good. It follows the movie pretty well: the levels, the enemies and themes are all based on the movie and it even uses some voices clips taken right from it, most famously Danny DeVito as Philoctetes - the satyr who follows Herc in the training levels and nags you for making mistakes or wasting time. They even included cutscenes from the film and they look really good for the time, though I wish they would've included more of the 5 muses, particularly the "Zero to Hero" song, which was like the highlight of the whole movie. As Hercules, your job is simple: get to the end of each level while fighting enemies. Standing in your way are all sorts of enemies, traps and even bosses you'll have to fight, like the Centaur, the Cyclops and of course Hades himself at the end. The majority of the levels are standard side-scrolling levels, but there are also third-person auto-scrolling levels, where you can't stop or turn around and you have to constantly steer Herc around the obstacles and enemies that come towards you. You have a lot of attacks: Herc can punch, uppercut, and use a variety of swords which you collect along the way. Controlling Herc is OK, although I do feel like there's a slight delay when trying to steer yourself in mid air after jumping or leaping off a ledge. Other than that, no problems: it's really easy to move Herc around and beat the sh!t out of everything you come across. The animation on the characters is well done and the levels are very well detailed, my favorite in particular being the Thebes level. Each level has hidden letters which spell the word "HERCULES". They act as the continue feature, so if you find them all and somehow lose all your lives, you get to try again from the last level you reached, rather than having to start from level. They're usually hidden inside holes in the ground which you access by jumping in place and hitting "down" in mid air. After 3 stomps the ground caves in, revealing a hidden area with goodies. Speaking of which, other items include the "Herculade" drink which replenishes your health, the Hercules action figure which extends your life bar, 3 types of swords (lightning, fire and tornado), an invincibility helmet which makes you immune to damage from enemies and finally urns which represent pieces of the password for the next level - there are 4 of these in each level. Find them all and you'll get the password for that level. On the PSx you also have the option to save your game after each level, whereas on the PC you have to rely solely on the password system. I would've liked the game to follow the movie a bit closer as far as the bosses are concerned: in the movie, Hercules kills the Hydra by punching the side of a mountain, causing rocks to collapse onto the monster. You don't get to do this in the game - you just keep slicing off the Hydra's heads until its energy is drained and a boulder drops onto it automatically. Then there's the Cyclops, another pretty disappointing level: you just get to the end of an auto-scrolling level and you get to watch the scene from the movie where Herc defeats the Cyclops by throwing a flaming stick into his eye. That was some proper violence for a Disney movie - wouldn't it awesome if you got to do that in the game yourself ? The best of all the bosses is probably the centaur: you drain his life by jumping on his back and riding him and also uppercutting him right in the face when you win, like Herc did in the movie - so satisfying ! Also, although this is REALLY nitpicking now, how about being able to play as other characters, not just Hercules ? I know there's not much they could have done for Meg or Phil in the game, but seeing how they took some creative liberties by having Herc fight the Medusa, they could've probably come up with something (in greek mythology, Perseus is the one who fights Medusa, not Herc). A bit of trivia here, this game came out in 1997; 2 years later, in 1999, another Disney game hit the scene: Tarzan The Action Game. It's very similar in terms of gameplay to Hercules and it actually has other playable characters from the film, so we could cut Hercules some slack as far as the characters are concerned, since it came before Tarzan, thus allowing the producers to know what flaws should be ironed over in the future. Other than that, the game is awesome: great graphics, great soundtracks, nice sound effects, smooth controls and most importantly Danny DeVito ! Try it out !

After a very long streak of Mario Forever games, I thought Id play something else for a change and give Jazz Jackrabbit 2 another go. I did make a series of it before, but it remained one of my lesser-known ones, so I eventually ended up removing it entirely since it wasnt getting enough views and was just cluttering up the channel. I did it in my early days, even before my channel was known as DGV, so it was no longer up to standards: the videos were low quality and spread out over many short vids, one for each level in fact ! Now that my channel has grown a bit, Ill try reviving it just to see how well it appeals to the public and also to change the pace a bit, as were probably getting a little bored with Mario by now and some variety is in order. I might even go back and do the original DOS game again as well, since that one is split up into a ridiculous number of individual vids and they all kinda suck, so this is also a perfect opportunity to clean up and reorganize The Game Vault a bit. Let me know what you guys think and whether you want to see more. Danny out. Jazz Jackrabbit 2 PC Walkthrough (Ep. 2 - Jazz In Time) [HD]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/lkPSWK6jyqc/mqdefault.jpg)

This is World PS by Phantom Sapphire. Despite being his first project, it turned out damn good ! The only problem is the lack of continues, but Im sure that will be fixed soon. Keep it up and youre on your way to becoming my next favorite creator, next to Crist1919. I see medals coming your way too ! Very good game ! Big cheers from Danny ! Heres Syzxchulun World 9 in Mario Forever Remake. Its the same world as before, except it no longer freezes when you beat a level. Because you have to beat all 4 levels in one go, the lack of checkpoints is still a big issue - whenever you lose all lives, you go back to level 1 and have to do the early stages again and again before you even get a chance to try the later ones again ! I hate games that do this ! Whats the point of going back to the beginning every time ? You should have unlimited lives, like in Abes Exoddus, where you could try the level you died on, rather than going back to square 1 every time. If this problem was fixed, it would be a decent follow-up to the original game. Mario Forever Remake - World 9 by Syzxchulun Full Walkthrough [HD]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/mQxwmbVAjNs/mqdefault.jpg)

Heres another secret in The Minus Worlds : Piranha Plant Mayhem. I first have to thank Mario fan and guru OnHuntinG (a.k.a. Night Fury), for letting me know about the whereabouts of this level, by using a clever reference to my original run of The Minus Worlds - very clever dude, I like that !:)) Back to the level : As the title suggests, its infested with piranha plants. Its not too hard though, and it also has only one level. I was actually pretty disappointed that its so short, since its pretty enjoyable and a breath of fresh air after Beyond, so maybe Crist the creator can expand this Mayhem and maybe make it into its own world with more levels. With that being said, we have another great level in the Crist collection. Danny out ! ![Dannys FAIL Vault - Hardcore World 3 by OnHuntinG [HD]
FACEBOOK : https://www.facebook.com/DanielsGameVault
Heres another fan world: Hardcore World 3. Do you remember how hard the originals were ? Now imagine those combined and multiplied a couple of times - thats how hardcore this is....pun intended. Its not bad as far as the overall quality is concerned. There are a few minor glitches, like falling through some of the blocks and not being able to jump when you land on platforms right above the surface of the water in level 3, but they dont affect playabilty too much once you figure them out and know how to avoid them. Now lets talk about the difficulty: all I can say is MY GOD ! Who was this game intended for ? Clearly not the average player who just want a fair challenge ! If you call yourself a casual gamer, who just wants a game to pass the time away, just get the f**k out - youve already lost ! After days of trying (not continuously of course), I eventually said screw it and gave up myself. I did make it to the last level, but once I died there, the thought of having to do all that insanity all over again made me sick, so I just stopped, as much as I hate the thought. The biggest issue is, as always, the lack of continues, so no matter how far youve made it, once all your lives are gone, you get sent back to level 1, and let me tell you, they got really carried away with that first level ! WAY to difficult. You get a swarm of lakitus, tough jumps on small platforms, firing plants and fuckin koopa-troopas....you think thats enough ?! The human brain cannot pay attention to this many things at once ! Theres only a single checkpoint half way through, but making it there is not as easy as it sounds. Why make the first level so tough ? To prevent gamers from seeing the rest of the game ? To separate real men from little kids ? Either way, its not OK (that rhymes). It took me, I think its safe to say, hundreds (!) of tries to finally get to the castle, but like I said, once I died there I had no energy left to try again. If its really that difficult to have a continue option, an alternative would be to have a 1-UP at the beginning of each level, so you can grab it whenever you die and restore the life you just lost. Well, believe it or not, they sort-of got the right idea with this in levels 1, 3 and 4, but its still not ideal because the lives are not placed right at the beginning so you can die again before getting them. In level 1 its right before the checkpoint, so you have to make it there first (which is insanely hard), in level 4 the 1-UP is hidden and you also have to make a pretty decent jump to get to it, and in level 3, its not actually a 1-UP per-se: about half way through, theres a bridge of enemies with a shell waiting at its far end - kick the shell across the bridge and after it takes out 7 enemies in a row, you get a 1-UP (or possibly even more if some of the flying fish get in its way). Even after knowing about the extra life trick, once you get to the checkpoint in levels 3 and 4, you can no longer go back and restock when you die, so youre left with however many you had prior to getting there. The lives should be placed at the start of each level and also at each checkpoint so you can grab them without risking any more. It may sound like making the game too easy, but even so it would still be challenging, because think about it: what is the point of having to do the early stages again once youve made it past them ? Youve proved that you have the skills to get through the level, so why do it again ? You want to progress and see the rest of the game, not get stuck on level 1 for a whole hour ! Im actually a bit disappointed that I had to let this one go prematurely and accept defeat, but I got a ton of other requests lately and I have to allot an equal amount of time to each of them, otherwise it wouldnt be fair for the person who requested the game to wait so long for me to tend to it. Maybe one day Ill come back and retry all of these failed attempts just to please the fans and also take my revenge, but for now thats all I can take. Not a bad world, but holy fuck is it hardcore...pun intended again. Danny out ! Dannys FAIL Vault - Hardcore World 3 by OnHuntinG [HD]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/myJ5ZAYKE5I/mqdefault.jpg)

I havent played a new Mario fan game in quite a while now, so heres one thats been requested a long time ago, but I never got down to doing :The Minus Worlds by Crist1919. This game is AWESOME, and I say that wholeheartedly because anybody playing it, even the most nitpicking players, would have a hard time finding anything wrong with it : smooth controls, awesome soundtracks, no glitches, no impossibly difficult or annoying parts and even the fuckin soundtracks are at the right level ! DAMN ! Doesnt that kick ass ?! Funily enough, it seems to get it right with all of the common issues Ive addressed in other fan games so far, so I must wonder if the creator took into account some of my own pointers when tweaking this game. I got my hands on the game a couple of months ago, when it was still in its beta stage, so it only had 2 worlds back then. I believe more have been added since then, which is great, because the game is so addicting and fun, I was actually sad it ended. Normally some games are so hard or so bad (or both !) that I cant wait to get them over with, but not this one, which is a big deal because Im a tough customer to please ! I have to say there is something to fix, although its more of a free-win than a problem : level 2 takes place underground, and just like in Super Mario Bros on Nintendo, you can jump up on the ceiling through an opening and take a shortcut. The problem here is that theres no way back to the level : once you hop up there, theres no other opening to drop back into the level later on, so you can just skip the whole level and go straight to the end. In a really hard and annoying game, being able to take a shortcut through the whole level wouldve been a perfect revenge to take on the game for pissing you off, but here its unnecessary and its a waste of a very long and pretty challenging level into which a lot of effort clearly went. You dont feel the need to vent any anger, because the game is awesome, so there should be a wall or a barrier that either prevents you from going up there in the first place, or another opening later on which forces you back down so you can beat the level the traditional way. Other than that, there were no other flaws I could find, so Crist1919 you rule ! Gold medal from DGV for this title ! I dont know how you did it and I dont know what it is, but you got it ! Keep it up and make sure you provide me with the remaining 6 worlds (or even more if you can do it), because Im sure theyll be just as good and I want to share your work with the world and spread the word about your name, because you deserve it ! Consider this my way of saying thanks for giving us something great to play ! Danny out ! Mario Forever - The Minus Worlds v1.0 by Crist1919 [HD]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/nDW_pEjLY80/mqdefault.jpg)
