There's a lot of discussion on who played bass on Helter Skelter. I don't own a Fender Jazz Bass so I'm defaulting to the Fender VI. The official Beatles White Album Super Deluxe book cites it as John on Fender VI while Beatles fans are sure it's Paul on his Fender Jazz Bass from listening to Take 17. I could see it being either of them and do not think it's out of John's capabilities. Some of the hardest stuff to replicate is John's playing, regardless of how poorly he played on Let It Be or Long and Winding Road.
