A transfer service can be prearranged upon arrival in Cancun by booking private shuttles, shared shuttles, or luxury transportation through various reputable companies.
If you are departing from Canada with WestJet and your package includes transfers, your service will be operated by Nexus Tours. Their staff can be found at their kiosk outside the Cancun Airport terminal—look for representatives wearing orange shirts.
Your travel documents will outline who to look for if you are flying with Transat, Air Canada, or WestJet.
Please note:
If your flight is delayed, the transfer company will be notified and your driver will wait for you.
Transfers are accessible only outside the terminal where the buses and vans are located—not inside the building.
Drivers will have your name on a list. Please stay close to your luggage as the staff loads it onto the van or bus to ensure it is loaded.
Types of Transfer Services

• Shared Shuttles:
An economical option with multiple stops at different hotels.
• Luxury/VIP Transfers:

*Tipping
It is customary to tip your driver 10–15% of the fare if you’re satisfied with the service.
*Return Transfer
Most carriers offer an app you can download. This is important for your return pickup, as the app will notify you of your pickup time and when to be in the lobby.
*VISITAX (Mandatory Departure Tax)
Visitax is now enforced on departure from Cancun Airport.

As of 2025, the cost is $23.45 CAD when paid online. I strongly recommend paying before arriving at the airport.

**My personal experience:
I departed Cancun on December 6, 2025, and was stopped by the Visitax agent. For the purpose of understanding the process, I asked him to proceed. When paying directly at the airport, the cost was 525 MXN, which converted to about $40 CAD—significantly higher than the online rate.
If you complete the payment in advance, save a screenshot of your QR code to your phone’s image gallery.
Please be aware that wifi is very limited at Cancun Airport. You may wish to have a roaming plan on your phone that allows data usage at no additional charge.
