Each year, our Escalator Talent Development Programme supports early-career writers in the East of England by providing eight months of mentoring, training, guidance and networking. These writers have stories to tell that are ambitious, challenging, unconventional and affecting, but their voices are often under-represented on UK bookshelves. Escalator provides them with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to develop their voice, fine-tune their writing and showcase their talents, with many alumni having gone on to sign with agents, publish and win awards and critical recognition for their writing.
Years of austerity and funding cuts have made funding through traditional means increasingly difficult, so this year we are asking for your help to ensure we are able to continue providing essential support to writers through the Escalator programme.
