We’ve all fallen prey to the temptation of immediate gratification at one time or another. Akshita Nanda (Beauty Queens of Bishan) and Irenosen Okojie (Speak Gigantular) agree there is no sweeter lure than the completion of a short story. However, pushing that niggling novel to the side has its own benefits.

Join our writers as they explore the true value of the short story and explain how this often overlooked form helped them claim space for marginalised voices. The panel will delve into the nature of inspiration, importance of research and question whether truth is stranger than fiction. This discussion of experimenting with the short story is chaired by Anjali Joseph (Saraswati Park).

We would like to thank the National Arts Council of Singapore for generously supporting this event.
