Galloping thoroughbred race horse through the fields and the woods with a Sony AS30 helmet camera. Horse racing is so much more fun with cameras on your helmet! I love this helmet camera. I actually like it better than the GoPro Hero 3. I think the Sony HDR-AS30v has better picture stability and this is very important when riding race horses. There is lots of rapid movement as you can imagine. Placing these videos on cars usually doesn't give you a true test of image stability. The GoPro Hero gives you more modes and setting than the Sony cam. The GoPro Hero has great color and light sensitivity, but so does the Sony AS30 and it's cheaper. The design of the Sony action camera, or helmet camera, allows for side mounting on the helmet, which I prefer over the front mounting or top mounting. Keep the helmet camera as close to the head as possible for better stability. Mounting these helmet cameras on top of the helmet, opposed to the front or sides, just causes more shaking, since the camera is furthest away from the center balancing point that is your head. Your mounting choices really depend on what you are looking to do and how you want to capture your videos. Everyone has their own personal preferences and will settle for what works best for them. Whether you choose the GoPro Hero or the Sony HDR-AS30v, you'll get great action video anywhere you go!
