We checked out the new Helderberg Hudson Rail Trail that goes from Voorheesville to the Port of Albany NY ( albanycounty.com/Government/Departments/CountyExecutive/RailTrail.aspx ). It's only 9 miles long, but very nicely done. Bike repair and Sunscreen stations, bike rentals, park benches, access to Pizza/Deli and Stewart's Icecream. The place was packed on a Friday afternoon. The only downside is that the parking lots fill up quickly.
