We decided to check out a new section of the Empire Trail that goes from Fort Edward NY to Fort Ann NY. Turns out that it is open, but still under construction (a combination of ruble, stone dust, and asphalt trails). There are some very pretty sections along the Champlain Canal. We grabbed lunch at Battle Hill Brewing Company ( battlehillbrewing.com ). There is a nice connector trail that heads to Glens Falls and then on to Lake George. There is an amazing flight of five locks on the feeder canal. As we headed back to Fort Edward we hit the historic train station. It now also houses the Evergreen Bicycle Works ( evergreenbicycleworks.com ). It is run by some nice knowledgeable guys and is a convenient location. Wish we had more time to explore!
