Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth participated in a ceremony at the Pentagon to upgrade the valor awards for United States Marines of Company G, 2d Battalion, 1st Marines, who served at Abbey Gate.

"Yet for half a decade, this building allowed bureaucratic caution, or maybe politics to stand in the way of proper recognition. Today, on this milestone anniversary, we declare that those days are over," Hegseth said.
