Radiation is heat moving through waves, like the warmth you feel from the sun. And convection? That’s when heat moves through liquids or gases, creating currents. Let's take a closer look at convection.

In this first example, as the burner heats the liquid, the warmer, less dense liquid rises, and the cooler, denser liquid sinks, creating a continuous flow—this is a convection current. You’ll see the same principle with this hot air balloon. The burner heats the air inside, making it expand and rise, causing the balloon to lift.
