Heat stress and the associated negative impact on carbon assimilation within the plant is common in Australian summers. Traditionally, irrigation to help alleviate plant stress has been applied based on the ambient temperature and soil moisture probes, but new technology is allowing canopy temperatures to improve decision-making and better time irrigations to mitigate heat stress.
