Several proccesses occur inside cells in order to adapt to environmental stress and ensure its durability. These events have to be regulated at any time in order to cope efficiently and proportionately with the perturbations, so that the cell does not spend too much energy only on this.
The feedback processes at play here, relying on the multiple interactions between networks of biochemical species, lead to coherent response when it is needed.
One of the simplest example (although all blackbox were not removed yet) highlighted in this video is the Heat Stress Response in E. coli, which is, as its name indicates, the response of the bacteria E.coli to an upshift of temperature.
