In this remarkable project by My Little Garage, Alexander single-handedly builds a fully functional two-story, two-car garage complete with a professional car lift—all within just six months. Acting as his own architect, engineer, and builder, he combines meticulous planning with impressive hands-on craftsmanship.
The build begins with the most critical element: a reinforced concrete slab foundation strong enough to support a multi-level structure. Alexander constructs precise formwork, lays a steel rebar grid, and pours the slab with care, ensuring proper curing to achieve maximum strength. With a flawless base in place, he turns to the walls, choosing aerated concrete (AAC) blocks for their strength, lightness, and insulation properties. Using thin-bed adhesive and constant leveling checks, he raises straight, stable walls reinforced with steel where needed. At each story’s completion, he pours an **armopoyas**—a continuous reinforced ring beam that locks the structure together and forms a stable platform for the floors and roof.
To support the second level, Alexander installs heavy wooden beams, fastening them to ledger boards and metal hangers anchored into the concrete bond beam. Once the joists are set, OSB sheets create a rigid upper floor. He then builds a gable roof, securing rafters to wall plates and covering the frame with a breathable membrane, gutters, drainage, and durable metal roofing sheets.
Around the exterior, he constructs an insulated perimeter curb, adds EPS insulation, waterproofing layers, and pours a reinforced concrete edge to protect the foundation. With weather protection ensured, he wraps the subfloor with membrane, installs siding, vinyl soffits, and finishes the full exterior envelope.
Inside, the transformation continues with window installation, proper sealing, electrical wiring, dense insulation for climate stability, and a full vapor barrier to protect against moisture. Drywall finishes the upper rooms, while parts of the garage ceiling remain exposed to highlight the structural craftsmanship.
Finally comes the crown jewel: the two-post car lift. After precise measurements, Alexander drills anchor holes into the reinforced slab, bolts the posts securely, connects the top beam, installs pulleys, cables, and the lift arms—creating a fully operational vehicle-lifting system.
What began as raw materials and empty ground becomes a durable, efficient, and beautifully executed two-story workshop and garage. Through patience, skill, and determination, Alexander turns his vision into reality—proving what a single committed builder can achieve with knowledge, planning, and six months of relentless work.
