The 13th episode of the Series on the Nicene Creed, Vladyka Alexei teaches us about the phrase in the Creed, "He Ascended into the Heavens."

"As Metropolitan Hierotheos Vlachos notes in his book, Feasts of the Lord, “The feast of the Lord’s Ascension has great meaning and importance for the Christian and spiritual life, because it is connected with the deification of every person.”'
"It is significant that the Acts of the Apostles and the Gospel account of the Lord’s Ascension remark that at the time of the Lord’s Ascension, the apostles fixed their gaze heavenward. This is significant be-cause it underscores our own posture as we await for the second coming of the Lord in glory."
"The fact that the apostles kept their gaze fixed on things above, rather than on things below, is a re-minder to us that our true home is in heaven and that while we sojourn here on earth, we must always keep our gaze fixed on the eternal things of the spirit and the remembrance of God."
Vladyka Alexei's flock is scattered among the vast lands of the State of Alaska, and for anyone that has traveled in the state, especially to the villages, knows the cost of traveling is VERY expensive. To give you an idea of how much it costs to get out to the villages, if you wanted to buy a box of laundry detergent, that would cost you a whopping $80! Now put that into travel costs for a flight out, lodging, food, etc, It is quite staggering.
