If I were to recast the whole cast of the show, only picking voice actors from existing dubbings, who would play who?
Yep, that’s a question I asked myself. And felt compelled to answer.
I decided to take into account only characters who have at least a solid half a song they sing fully on their own, so to be able to appreciate the dubbers’ individual takes, without them being overshadowed by other overlapping performances. That’s why Rosie, Niffty, Sir Pentious, Lute, Valentino, Cherri Bomb, Mimzy, and Sera are not included in this video. They sing too little on their own.

In general, I want to give a shout out to the Turkish dubbing, which I personally think has pulled the overall best results among the 12 existing. Go check it out. Really. Other dubs I think are worth checking out in their entirety are certainly the German, Canadian French, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. Ah yeah, because despite the Canadian French dub never appearing in this video with an audio (to my surprise, really), they actually slayed and got some of the most honourable mentions, after the German dub. Please, go give them some love, because they deserve it, despite not having taken the top spot for any characters.
On the difference between “honourable mention” and “wildcard”.
Honourable mentions are versions similar to the winning one, but to which I preferred the version on screen.
Wildcards are versions which sensibly diverge not only from the version I picked, but from every other version too for their peculiarity. And something in their peculiarity made them stand out nonetheless, making me want to mention them, despite, or rather, in virtue of their being so distinctly unique. That was the case of Abner as Lucifer and Vacha as Velvette only.
