Wider is not always better. You want the Haven Tent to closely match the width of your body so it works with the pad to help hold the space open. As a general rule, people under 150 lbs (68 kgs) will typically be more comfortable in the standard Haven Tent, while those over 200 lbs (90 kgs) should go with the XL. For the 50 lbs in between you should be happy either way, if you think you'd like the extra space... go with the XL!
