Visiting the Terjit Oasis in Mauritania, almost doesn’t feel real.
Just beyond this paradise lies the vast, unforgiving Sahara—but here, water seeps from the rocks, feeding lush palm trees and creating a pocket of life in the desert.
This is my first time seeing a true oasis in person, and it’s incredible. The air is cooler, the sound of flowing water echoes off the canyon walls, and everything feels… alive.
For centuries, places like this have been vital lifelines—stopping points for caravans, and sources of fresh water in one of the harshest environments on Earth.
Terjit isn’t just a beautiful anomaly—it’s a reminder of how resilient life can be, even in the most extreme conditions.
