We have all been there when putting a faceplate on a bowl blank , the wood is hard, you didnt pre drill, you used an impact driver and the screw snapped leaving a piece of metal in the wood!
Not ideal.
To eliminate this from re occurrence put a dab of wax or in this case Superior grit abrasive paste on the tip of the screw, the wax will essentially lubricate the screw as it goes into the wood, this eliminates friction and heat build up and helps reduce the chance of the screws snapping off in the blank.
