Today I tackled a tricky section of my steep, forested mountain driveway by widening a narrow corner and reinforcing a narrow part lower down the hill. Using my vintage Hitachi UH043 excavator fitted with a ripper, I tore through the rocky hillside and loaded the rocks into my 12-wheel, V8-powered tip truck — a real beast from another era.

Both of these machines were rescued and repaired on a budget after years of neglect. Now they’re earning their keep on some tough terrain. Watch as I put them to work, hauling and dumping rocks to make the driveway safer and more accessible for future projects.
