You know, before I started making AMVs, I saw a comment on the original Project Diva opening. It went something like "So she used to be a normal human girl and now she's a computer? That's so sad."
I took that idea and ran with it - Hatsune Miku, sophomore at Sapporo High School and budding musician, makes a deal with a little version of herself - she'll become a pop idol in exchange for her body. Now she's just a robot, hologram, computer, whatever her conscience is inhabiting at the moment.
At first she thinks it's fun, performing as a hologram in front of so many people across the world. But slowly, she's forced to do increasingly disturbing things - kill other Vocaloids, willingly get trash-talked for the sake of stories, pretend to die over and over - and it leads her to become the bitter thing she is in Sadistic Music Factory, until Crypton no longer sees her as useful and deletes her in The Disappearance.
