Hey everyone! April's hat is here. This easy diamond cable along with this sequin yarn makes for a simply cute hat. I learned this pattern from Creative Knitting Magazine, the autumn 2014 issue. I'm just showing how to make this hat, it isn't my design. Even though the magazine had some pattern issues, then written instructions below are correct. Hope you guys like it.

Items Used:
Clover Bamboo interchangeable 16" circular & double pointed needles size 4 (3.5mm)
Loops & Threads Payette Yarn in Periwinkle Twinkle (1.75 oz, 216 yds, fine 2ply) 1 ball for a medium size.
Cable Needle
Stitch Marker
Tapestry Needle

Sizes:
Child's small, (medium, large/adult small, medium, large, X-large)
Instructions are given for smallest size, with larger sizes in parentheses. When only 1 number is given, it applies to all sizes.

Finished Measurements:
Circumference: 14, (16, 18, 20, 22, 24) inches
Height: 4 1/2, (4 3/4, 5, 5 1/4, 5 3/4, 6 1/4) inches

Gauge:
24 sts and 34 rnds = 4 inches in st st.
30 sts and 34 rnds = 4 inches in cable pattern.

Special Abbreviations:
1/1 Left Cross (1/1 LC): Slip next st to cn and hold in front; k1, k1 from cn.
1/1 Right Cross (1/1 RC): Slip next st to cn and hold in back; k1, k1 from cn.
1/1 Left Purl Cross (1/1 LPC): Slip next st to cn and hold in front; p1, k1 from cn.
1/1 Right Purl Cross (1/1 RPC): Slip next st to cn and hold back; k1, p1 from cn.

Diamond Cable Pattern: multiples of 10 sts
Rnd 1: *P4, 1/1 LC, P4; rep from * around.
Rnd 2: *P4, K2, P4; rep from * around.
Rnd 3: *P3, 1/1 RPC, 1/1 LPC, P3; rep from * around.
Rnd 4: *P3, K1, P2, K1, P3; rep from * around.
Rnd 5: *P2, 1/1 RPC, P2, 1/1 LPC, P2; rep from * around.
Rnd 6: *P2, K1, P4, K1, P2; rep from * around.
Rnd 7: *P1, 1/1 RPC, P4, 1/1 LPC, P1; rep from * around.
Rnd 8: *P1, K1, P6, K1, P1; rep from * around.

Work Rnds 1 through 20 of Cable pattern 1, (1, 1, 1, 1, 2) times.

Shape Crown:
Rnd 1: *P2tog, P2, 1/1 LC, P4; rep from * around - 81, (90, 99, 108, 117, 126) sts.
Rnd 2: *P3, K2, P4; rep from * around.
Rnd 3: *P2, 1/1 RPC, 1/1 LPC, P2tog, P1; rep from * around - 72, (80, 88, 96, 104, 112) sts.
Rnd 4: *P2, K1, P2, K1, P2; rep from * around.
Rnd 5: *Slip next 2 sts to cn and hold in back, K1, P2tog from cn, P2, sl next st to cn and hold in front, P2tog, K1 from cn; rep from * around - 54, (60, 66, 72, 78, 84) sts.

Tip: When weaving in your tails, clip off the sequins on your thread for easy pull through on your work. Just cut sequin in half, don't cut yarn.

Finishing:
Cut yarn leaving a tail. Weave in all ends and enjoy your hat.
