We know Harriet Tubman best as a conductor on the Underground Railroad in the United States during the 19th century. But did you know she was also an expert in forestry and living off the land? These skills – and one owl call in particular – came in handy for outwitting pursuers during her emancipation missions, according to Angela Crenshaw of the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park & Visitors Centre.
