Winnipeg, March 24, 2017 - Haroon Siddiqui, one of Canada's most respected journalists, was a highlight of the conference entitled "At the heart of human rights is human dignity" held March 21 & 22, 2017 in Winnipeg. Siddiqui is the former columnist and editorial page editor of the Toronto Star, Canada’s largest newspaper. He has covered Canada for the last 48 years and, as well, has reported from nearly 50 other countries.
The conference was organized by the Islamic Social Services Association and sponsored by nearly 3 dozen organizations to mark the 25th anniversary of the passage of Manitoba's Multiculturalism Act and build solidarity in the face of growing attacks on human rights in Canada.
