As children, we are vulnerable to abuse and being taken advantage of by family members and other adults who may not have the best intentions.
When we become adults, we have the power to make difficult choices to protect ourselves. Setting hard boundaries and even estrangement can be last resort actions to open space for healing and recovery from childhood trauma.
