Harbinger is a free retro styled fps that looks to provide simple and straight to the point gameplay for those looking for free retro style shooters, while having an interesting damage mechanic that makes the combat on higher difficulties more intense. I also talk about the prior game Cryptis. While they can be a fun time while brief, for me personally they don't do much, and nowadays my standards and what I want out of a game have changed. My wants and needs do vary depending on the genre. But when it comes to shooters now, I don't just want Doom or Quake clones anymore, but something that has a great story, setting and gameplay. In any event, give these games a try, they're free and fulfill their role nicely.
Notes:
- Music selection is nice, predominantly metal based, the kind you'd see in other retro fps games as of late.
- There's definitely some potential in Harbinger. But I think it should either be expanded on with more content, or carry the good parts of it over in the next project.
