lilykoi hawaii | Hand-Pressed Masa Harina TORTILLA Recipe || EASY + VEGAN || @lilykoihawaii | Uploaded July 2018 | Updated October 2024, 5 hours ago.
Basic Recipe:
Makes 6-8 small tortillas
1.5 cups masa harina flour
Pinch salt
Pinch fresh black pepper
~1 cup water (more or less, add very slowly)
-Add all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Slowly add in water to reach correct consistency. Dough will form into ball and pull away from edges of the bowl. If your dough gets too wet, sprinkle in some more masa marina flour.
-Knead a few times to fully incorporate.
-Pinch off small, tortilla-sized pieces. Work small ball in hands for a few seconds, then shape into desired tortilla shapes (circular, triangular, etc)
-Heat non-stick pan, turn heat to low-medium. (I prefer a well-seasoned cast iron skillet.)
-Dry cook tortillas, 5-7 minutes first side, 3-5 minutes second side.
