This has been requested a lot, so I'm excited to share it! The stitch tutorial begins at 2:16 (in case you want to skip the bits about hemming).


Other notes:

The "crosses" can be whatever width and height you like, I just used half an inch as an example.

If you're working with a fray prone fabric you can trim the bottom edge with pinking sheers, or serge it before turning it inward. You can also turn it in by more than half an inch if you're really concerned.

Alternatively, for smaller hems and thinner materials you can turn it inward by an eighth, or a quarter of an inch. However for tiny hems I find a whip/slip stitch better than a catch stitch!
