Unlike Asian or Italian dumplings, Ukrainian Halushky are not filled. They are simple, softpieces of dough made from just flour, water, and salt. They are usually served with a sauce and can be either sweet or savoury. Once the everyday meal of Ukrainian peasants, they became a national symbol of simplicity, warmth, and togetherness. Today, chefs like Yevhen Klopotenko are reimagining them as a modern street food.
