Had some time to research checkpoint mods today and succeeded with this idea I had a while ago. Continuously getting a checkpoint throughout the duration of the entire mission. No other checkpoints interfere with it, saving and quitting works normally and 100%. The usefulness of this is limitless and beyond measure. Just awesome.
